I loved this book! What a totally sweet, awesome couple. Drew and Fable are just adorable :). I was a little wired around the 80% mark that we were going to be working up to a third book for them before we finally got to out HEA, but Monica did the impossible and really tied up all the loose ends in a very satisfying way.

I will never look at marshmallows again without smiling.

I devoured One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend back to back. I am little surprised that I just finished the book an hour ago and simply cannot stop grinning. I am surprised because this book was heavy on the angst. Throughout both books, I kept waiting for the author to drop another bomb because honestly this couple faced some serious Brady Bunch evil Tiki mojo. The theme of the book was definitely not light and at times simply I will never look at marshmallows again without smiling.

I am surprised because this book was heavy on the angst. Throughout both books, I kept waiting for the author to drop another bomb because honestly this couple faced some serious Brady Bunch evil Tiki mojo. The theme of the book was definitely not light and at times simply heartbreaking. I found myself holding my breath and fearing the worst was about to get even worse.

Even so, the love story between Drew & Fable was so damn good that I never felt bogged down in pity for either one of them. The romance was not overshadowed by the angst (which is a total buzz kill for me). The author allowed us to really understand the intensity of their need for each other by sharing their painful histories and bleak futures. Somehow the desperation they felt was balanced out with light moments of pure tenderness & believable first love. Even with the sadness, the reader is still treated to experiencing butterflies. If I am not making myself clear, this book is generous on the romance…we’re talking poetry AND large doses of smexiness.

What stands out for me in this book was the role reversal involving our hero and heroine. I can honestly say I haven’t read a story with a hero quite like Drew. At first, I was confused by his behavior and couldn’t understand him. He felt almost robotic and lifeless…somehow weak. I finally realized Monica Murphy intentionally created Drew this way so we could witness him slowly coming back to life, feeling, trusting, hoping and loving for the first time. After finishing his journey, Drew is the antithesis of weak. His transformation by the end had me looking at him in a totally different light and head over heels for Drew Callahan. Fable was also a huge surprise and a bit of a puzzle as well. She was Drew’s opposite and also somehow his perfect match in so many ways. This is where the role reversal comes in. She took the lead in ways traditionally the hero is usually written. She had made mistakes in her past but didn’t lose herself in regret. One word: refreshing. She was a combination of strength and vulnerability – underdog and hero - confident and unsure – vixen and sweet. What she does for Drew, how she truly saves him – teaches him to let go and share the beauty of their intimacy was such a switch up. Again, refreshing.

There were a few loose ends that I would have liked to have seen given more attention. I was also hoping for more closure in regards to Drew's father and their future relationship. I can't go into more details without ruining it for other readers but I am left wondering if I should stop disliking him.

Sigh, although totally satisfied with the epilogue, I want more Drew & Fable. I can only hope there will be another book in the series about a certain couple (this review is spoiler free so you’ll have to wait to find out who I am thinking about). Or maybe, Monica Murphy should consider YA and write Owen a little ditty. Until then, I am going to grin for a few more hours and keep my fingers crossed that we will get more from Monica Murphy.

I was soooooo HAPPY with the way this one went....I was expecting another twist in the story....like a heart-wrenching, angsty, cry-your-eyes-out twist...but I'm not disappointed...I like that instead of focusing on Drew+Fable's reconciling..it was really about TRUST, HEALING & NEW BEGINNINGS...they didn't let lil' petty things get in the way of their relationship...and I guess that's what I was expecting...but I'm so glad the author didn't take that route with this one...and like so many times ...more

I give this book 3 1/2 stars and nothing more. I'm sorry...book 2 just didn't do it for me. I could predict what was going to happen before reading the whole book.

Girls takes boy back.
They have a fight.
They make up.
Crazy step-mother become obsessive.
She trys to kill the girlfriend.
Crazy step-mother dies.
Boys ask girl to marry him.
They live happily ever after.... BLAH BLAH BLAH
