Ash Wednesday
Was a good, quick read. Not to sound like some hoity-toity know-it-all but I got a bit put off by a small detail in the hospital sequence: You send something you removed to pathology for a definitive diagnosis. You do not send something you removed for a biopsy. Small quibble. Doesn't rate as high for me because the characters read like they're very young. Like YA, young. Might not get some re-read for me... unless I'm going to Scotland. ...more

To quote Ellie, "You're a little bit awesome". That's what I would say about the book. Towards the end I was nail-spitting mad. Good thing I got some sense talked into me about how the book isn't to blame for my feelings and not to hold a grudge. Lol.

There isn't anything about this book I didn't love!
The climax rose in good tempo, Jocelyn's character is damaged yet believable. Braden... Oh Braden how in love with you I am.
Great story. Worth every penny. Beautiful ending!
I am ready to read Ellie's and Adams story now!

Samantha Young! For your "deput" into adult fiction you freakin rocked it! Seriously ---- The following things happened whilst reading this novel:
1. I drank 4 rum and cokes and a lot of chocolate
2. I screamed into oblivion at invisible monkeys screwing everything up (this may consequentially have happened as a result of the 4 rum and cokes)
3. I was within an inch of my life and almost wheeled into the ER for persistent tightness in my chest
4. My job security was in limbo
5. And last, but certai

I simply loved this story. It was beautiful, heartwarming and most important of all... It was set in Edinburgh! That in itself was a selling point for me. I usually fall in love with the characters in a novel, but on Dublin street had me falling in love with Edinburgh all over again. I know I live here, but when everyday life consumes you, it is easy to forget how beautiful the city really is.
The author herself impressed me with her ability to make me laugh and cry and, despite being Scottish h

Tragedy struck early leaving Jocelyn a very wealthy teenager. To escape her past and memories, she travels from America to live in Scotland to attend college where she ends up staying because she has dual citizenship. Never learning to cope, she is often knocked to her very core with panic attacks even into adulthood. Without letting anyone in, due to fear, she only has two people she considers a friend, her previous roommate and her old roommate's boyfriend -both of who she really doesn't know- ...more

It was a cute story. Enjoyed the characters however certain things could have been explained in more detail. Such as why the uncle never was a major factor but was brought up ? Oh well It definitely had its funny moments!

I finished this book & absolutely loved it! It had everything! Hot Passion, well-developed characters who had angst, you wanted to cheer for Braden & Jocelyn @ the end. Loved Rhian & Ellie too, the unlikely BFF's (I have those too!) My only complaint is I wanted to know more about Adam & Adam & Braden's friendship but it didn't detract from the main plot. Great Read! ...more
