I loved this little gem of a book!!!!
It is about a man who is just living: he works, comes home, he takes of cat, and then, it’s rinse and repeat. Then, he gets a secret assignment to go assess magical children at an orphanage ran by his employer. Here he meets the anti christ, a nome, a shapeshifter, and so much more. Cute story about a case worker in charge of magical youth investigating an orphanage.

The story is really about finding yourself and your voice and in this case a family and where you belong.

I really wished there was more world building. Where are the magical people from? Why are there regulations and registry’s? Why is a female gnome a weird thing?

It’s fun to see Linus’s personality change as the book goes on. He starts so drab and boring in the beginning.

Overall it was a quick cute read.

One of my favorite stories in a long time! It is such a sweet telling of a man who isn't happy with his life and he doesn't even know it. When it does hit him, he begins a new chapter in his life. Filled with magical creatures, acceptance, love, work issues, it was near perfect. I can't wait to read it again, and I don't do that usually. I LOVED the narrator, Daniel Henning!!! He was great at all the voices - especially Chaunsey. If you need a sweet, feel-good book, this is the one for you. ...more
