This book is a great sci-fi retelling of Cinderella, where Cinder is not only the downtrodden step-daughter, but part cyborg as well. D not read this book looking for a happily ever after - it is a roller coaster ride that doesn't always go where you are expecting. The plot itself was excellent, harkening back to the original fairy tale just enough that you remembered the inspiration, but not so much that it doesn't stand on its own. Overall, I thought this book was definitely an enjoyable read.

The only bad thing I can say about Cinder, after finishing this audio book is that I wish I didn't have to wait for book two because I want to read it now. To some this may look like a classic tell of Cinderella but with a sci fi twist and while it has some elements of Cinderella but it is more of a political thriller. I enjoyed this re-telling of Cinderella. Not only is it based in the future and in China....Cinder (ella) is a cyborg! Very cool. I especially loved Iko, who reminds me of someone I love dearly; silly, devoted, small, smart and snarky. Nicely written and it moved along well. I am excited to read the next book, Scarlet!
An unique twist on a classic fairy tale. I'm interested to see where Cress takes the story.
