I just...ugh. I wanted to love this SO MUCH. To me, it reminded me of The Goldfinch, but you all know how much I love the Goldfinch. This doesn’t even compare in the instance of losing a parent (or parents) and the narrative that comes after.
The relationship between Edward and Shay seemed too far fetched because no matter what, no one makes friends that quick as a 12 year old. No one.
I would be willing to read another Ann Napolitano book though. I enjoyed her writing, just not the plot.

Dear Edward made me cry big fat tears that crinkled little dots onto the pages.
I flew through this book without realizing that I was doing it. The way the story unfolded sucked me in so quickly that I would forget that I was reading; the only thing I cared about was “what am I going to learn about these characters next?” and “what emotional situation is Edward going to have to overcome now?”
I’m a big fan of novels with nonlinear timelines, if they’re done right, and this book definitely does it ...more

I know this has been a popular book recently, especially since it is apart of the Jenna Bush Hager book of the month picks. A twelve year old boy named Edward boards a plane with his family and 183 other passengers. The plane crashes and there is only one survivor, Edward.
Edward is then in the care of his childless aunt and uncle. Of course he makes national news by being the sole survivor but Edward doesnt want the attention. He only wants his life to go back to how it was pre-crash. The book ...more

I stayed up way to late to finish #dearedward by @annnapolitano last night! I’m giving it 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars! Friends I’m not sure what it was this book that had me compulsively obsessed with this book, (Maybe the fact that I drove 2 hrs out of town to apply to get a flight attendant last week 🤷🏼♀️🛩), that I was kinda freaked out, a little. The story is about a plane that crashes killing every one of the 192 souls on board except for 1, a 12 year old boy named Edward. Edward was flying with his p

I loved this book even though it's about a plane crash (not a spoiler). I read it on audio. There are some beautiful quotes in this book: "Take stock of who you are and what you have and then use it for good." "Humans need community, for our emotional health. We need connection, a sense of belonging. We are not built to thrive in isolation."
