Edward is the sole survivor of commercial plane crash. He loses his parents and brother and goes to live with his aunt and uncle who never had children.
This was our 𝐁𝗼𝗼𝐤 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐅𝗼𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝗼𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 February pick. I expected to endure this book and not much more. I am a fearful flier and was not overly excited to be reading about a plane crash. I was wrong. I loved every minute of this book.

“It’s when gamblers convince themselves that because they’ve been losing for a long stretch, they’re more likely to win any minute. But they’re wrong—of course. The odds of flipping heads is still fifty percent, even if you’ve flipped ten tails in a row.” The gambler’s fallacy! I have had this argument too many times with entitled men in Vegas or Atlantic City! Funny, but not shocking, to see the same theory come up in a book about a plane crash.

Dear Edward is a realistic look at a 12-year-old boy’s recovery as the sole survivor of a horrific airplane crash was both sobering and uplifting. The reader also gets to know the other airplane passengers’ backstories and hopes for the future in a heartbreaking hour-by-hour account of the plane ride.
