A bit more complex than I thought this story explores the history of philosophy. I can't say that I understood all of it or stopped from drifting off while reading the early history of philosophers like Aristotle or Plato but all in all it was an different and somewhat interesting read. ...more

I took a philosophy course once and dropped it because I felt like my scientific brain couldn't comprehend the ideas. Then I read this and the way it was presented made me want to learn more about each of the great philosphers. I think I went into it more open-minded. It also helped that I was older and had gotten somewhat wiser to I believe. ...more

I first read this book many years ago and thought it was due a re-read. It's one of those books which when you know how it ends rather loses its impact, which is a great shame. The introduction to philosophy is interesting but as a story it left me disappointed on this revisit, which was a great shame. ...more
