I have no words to express how impactful this was. A story of tremendous sacrifice, made out f love both general and specific. This one will sit with me for a while.

I just finished reading this ... tears are still running down my cheeks. I finally started breathing again during that last chapter. Even though this book is fiction and I've read a good many books about WWII and the Holocaust, by far this is the best. The author wrote an wonderful story about every emotion I can think people can experience. ...more

This novel really felt like a departure for Krisin Hannah for some reason. It wasn't fast paced but it also wasn't slow. It felt thorough in the best ways. The quality of this story was very high. The writing was great, the story itself was compelling. It's just fantastic! At times, I get tired of WW2 novels that seem to tell the same stories over and over. I liked that this one gave you multiple perspectives so Hannah was able to really explore a lot of facets of the war. Wonderful characters, ...more

Loved this book! Kristin Hannah rarely disappoints and she hits a home run with this one. Excellent characters, seamlessly blends the history with the story. Highly recommended!
