Overly hyped, and not near as impressive as I was hoping for. Dissing Lurlene McDaniel's books did not help, either. I loved her books about teens with cancer, and the OLW foundation that helped them.
I did love Hazel Grace, even though she was constantly down on herself. I didn't like Augustus as much, since he really let himself go, and then told HG not to get him help.
The sideplot about HG's fave author was slightly enjoyable, until he became stalkerish later on. It was not fulfilling, as h

I have never understood people who avoid tear stimulus like books and movies. I would rather process a grief past or enduring, or a future possible pain through the well written stories of others. This book is no exception. I actually went looking for the book "An Imperial Affliction" after the main character stole my heart and admiration and talked it up so much. But alas, it was only a made up masterpiece. John Green has indeed lived up to that moniker with this book. ...more

I prolonged reading this one. I knew it was going to be good - not only because of the rave reviews I'd been hearing, but also because the subject matter was a tough one to tackle. What I found amongst these pages, was an exceptional story - and while beautifully written, it was tremendously bittersweet. The relationship between Hazel and Augustus from start to finish was beautiful and heartbreaking. The title "The Fault in Our Stars" says it all. ...more
