The novel had two main themes that stuck out to me the most, loyalty and rebellion. Katniss has to choose to either be loyal to Peeta or Gale throughout the book. She could be loyal to Peeta because he has stuck with her through the Hunger Games and helped her win and become successful, or she could be loyal to Gale who has been her best friend since she could remember and was also her hunting buddy. This is most possibly one of the most exciting books of the year. I read the first one and saw the movie. My sisters were bugging me about reading the second book so I gave in and read it. I got through it in two days. Needless to say, it is a cliff-hanger with some exciting twists. I can't wait to read the third and final book in the series. ...more

Although this is only the second book, it's my favorite. You find out so many interesting characteristics of each character as Katniss continues her journey. This book is an emotional roller coaster that takes you out of your comfort zone and throws you into the worst possible situations. Katniss' conflicting feelings only increase as time wares on, and you yourself don't know where she stands. ...more
