"Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" is a sort of memoir/ humor book by the very talented and very funny Mindy Kaling. This book was written around the time that Kaling was on "The Office" so it came out a few years ago but the humor in the book still feels timely and is still very enjoyable. I love her on The Mindy Project and know that she does a lot of the writing for that show and I find it hilarious so I wanted to read this book for that very reason. If you liked books like Tina Fey's "Bos

Mindy, I think you and I should be BFFs.
Well, scratch that. After reading your book, you'd probably be much more likely to be BFFs with writers/actors/various other creative people. My creativity is limited to some pretty kick-ass cross-stitching, so maybe we should be warm acquaintances. You know, I'm not necessarily on the top of the speed dial, but you'd still be mildly excited to see me once every quarter. Sound good? Excellent. ...more

I abstractly like Mindy Kaling. I mean, if we hung out- we wouldn't be friends really...but she would make me laugh and I would be slightly jealous of her charisma and clothes.
This was a fun audio book to listen to, mostly because Mindy narrates it. No super deep insights, but light banter that will keep you entertained as you bike across town to work (or maybe that's just me). ...more

Okay...I'm going to echo some of the other reviews here and just say I wish Mindy was one of my best friends. She's upfront about who she is, and who she isn't. She loves her family, and is an ambitious, achieving woman. This is totally a book that I would recommend to a teenage girl as proof that you can be concerned about the zit on your forehead as well as whether or not you are going to ace an interview. On top of that, I totally think Mindy and I would go along because neither one of us wil

Charming, funny and smart autobiography. Kaling comes across as a woman whom you could talk to for hours about any subject. My favorite chapters include "These Are the Narcissistic Photos in My BlackBerry" and Types of Women in Romantic Comedies Who Are Not Real."

Fun, fast read. This book was like candy (I love candy), and made me laugh. Entertaining insights into how someone gets into television writing, and WOO for how normal and well-adjusted -- yet hilarious -- she appears to be.
