What Members Thought
Illusionists, the circus, an ill-fated romance, a life or death competition...yet this still reads as very flat. It’s not poorly written and there is enough meat to the plot to keep you chugging along it just...it felt like watching a show on mute with subtitles; you can follow the story but you miss all of the emotion. It seems likes a book Ben Stein would narrate, very monotone and flat.

I liked the slow build up, but the bailey and the magicians in love subplots were a tad too underdeveloped. Lovely descriptions though, and I wish I could actually go visit that circus now.
Recommended by Christy DeMeyer. Reminded me of the movie trailer about the dueling magicians. I'll have to look that up. Wonderful imagery, loved the story.
