Love this series with the strength of a thousand angry Zuzanas.

So, I didn't love this book when I started it, and I knew I wouldn't because I knew there was going to have to be some major conflict between the two main characters that was going to take them apart. And like most second books, there were parts I was frustrated with, but I knew it would get better and that everything I was reading was going to make the third book epic (keep my fingers crossed). My main trouble was remembering the different factions/legions of angels. I'm always less interested in wars and battle scenes than the relationship aspects of stories, so this book didn't score quite as a high as Daughter of Smoke and Bone for me. I'm still amazed by the imagination of this world, and I think both Karou and Akiva are multi-dimensional and interesting characters that I'm looking forward to reading more about... sooooooon, please! ...more

Finished this two days ago and I'm still thinking about it. There were awesome plot twists. Although I know the story needed to be this way, I wish there were more moments with Akiva and Karou together. The scenes that were in the book made my heart beat faster and I found myself holding my breath. Taylor's writing is stunning. It's so descriptive and vivid.

Much better than the first, although like the first, there were some parts that slightly irked. Of course, amazing and breathtaking all the same.

Full review coming.
