This story was just a okay story to me with Audrey being a girl that love science and medicine. She sees herself working with the dead with her uncle. But being a lady that is frown upon in her time. She's to sew and knit with girls her age and gossip. But she doesn't want to do that. So why working with her uncle she is determined to find out who Jack the Ripper really is. It took me months to finish this book, because Audrey Rose is an example of a heroine that is just Too Stupid To Live! I thought I met several exemplary candidates for the TSTL title before, but no AR takes the first place by far! The amount of times she idiotically put herself in a situations where she could have been seriously hurt of killed is insane, my eyes rolled the whole book. Overall it’s not a bad mystery and a fairly decently written novel, but she is just insufferable.
Meh. I seem to be in the minority about this one. I didn't find Audrey Rose (I had trouble with the name and flashbacks to that 80s book) particularly smart though we are told over and over she is and I didn't find her very empowered. She was too silly at times - like heading out alone when she had no clue what she would do if she came face to face with a killer. She was too concerned about convention - always acting as if Thomas' attraction was unsettling when she was drawn to him in such a juv

Clever , Witty, and Charming
Whew. Whodunnits novels are such a pleasure to read always keeping the person guessing - especially when it involves Jack the Ripper .
This fictional story influence by the most well known serial killer was both new , interesting, and smart . It has slow moments abundantly throughout but makes up for it with lovable Or infuriating characters .
