Gorgeous prose and heaped with imagination. A running theme of survival, and leaving a legacy. Also some beautiful descriptions of nature. Favorite stories: The Line Agent Pascal, On Growing Ferns…, and The Ecstasy of Alfred Russell Wallace, although I didn’t really dislike any.

I think the writing of these stories has its elegance; but I can’t really say I enjoyed it very much. It was too ethereal and conceptual. I also found many of the story endings to be unsatisfying and incomplete. It always seemed like something was left out or missing. Even when the plot of a story came to a neat closure, it was still somehow lacking something. Not my favorite.
