What Members Thought
A good beginning for what promises to be a lengthy and engaging adventure series, I really did enjoy this book, but couldn't shake the feeling that it only felt like Part One to a much bigger tale. I am intrigued to find out where the story line leads us in future books.
This book is set in a post nuclear-holocaust society where those with mutations or any small, noticeable difference are scorned and either burned or sent away. The story focuses on the experience of one Elspeth, a young girl, who has extraordinary mental capabilities - she can read minds, communicate with animals, etc. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next. It was sad, interesting, and pulls you into the action.
