I read this book in college and kind of struggled through it. This time around I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cadence of the language is beautiful and fits the tempo that one would expect from Jake Barnes. In college, I was instructed to focus on the aficion and what it means to be an aficionado. While this is important, I found the interpersonal relationships and the fall of each person's facade far more intriguing. Quite enjoyed the read. I haven't looked at all of the imagery yet but the story was intriguing enough. I found it slow at first, but the human psychology is brought up endlessly. ...more
