Library book group Feb. 2012 pick. I loved this book and read it in 3 days. It's so interesting that it's hard to put down. I like how the author made this from Christopher's point of view, a young boy who has Asperger syndrome. It shows how they think about things too much and how it effects them. I love how sweet Christopher was with his detective work about Wellington the dog. I can also see how he is afraid of his father after he finds out what he has done. The author says it's impossible fo Library book group Feb. 2012 pick. I loved this book and read it in 3 days. It's so interesting that it's hard to put down. I like how the author made this from Christopher's point of view, a young boy who has Asperger syndrome. It shows how they think about things too much and how it effects them. I love how sweet Christopher was with his detective work about Wellington the dog. I can also see how he is afraid of his father after he finds out what he has done. The author says it's impossible for people with Asperger's to tell a lie. Christopher soon lets us know that a little white lie might not be as bad. Because, according to Christopher, it's not really a lie but just the truth with some parts left out. Christopher also lets us know he has to know what's going on because it makes him feel better and he likes to use a timetable to make lists of his whole day.

You could tell his father loved Christopher and was trying to be there for him. He had a few problems of his own but he's human. The mother on the other hand could use some anger management classes. Although, Christopher believes she is dead because that's what his father has told him. He finds out later on that this isn't true. And, he finds out who killed Wellington the dog but it comes at a price too.

I learned more about Asperger's and how the mind works with a person with Asperger since I don't know much about it. I loved how Christopher explains how he sees everything on page 140 to page 144 (It's number 181). Wow! To be that observant would be a plus but it comes at a price with too much information in your head. I know I am never that observant and I will look at things a little bit differently because of this book.

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because I thought the ending left me with a feeling like it wasn't complete. I think the ending needed to be a little bit more. Not sure what that would be but I felt shorted at the end.

(There's another good book about medical problems called: "Against Medical Advice" by Hal Friedman. It's about Tourette Syndrome.) James Patterson is on the cover as the author but we all know that it's the little name on the book now who writes his books. ...more

I would have rated this book a lot higher...but it had a lot of bad language in it... it gave good insight to how someone with autistim might think.

This book started off really good. There was mystery, and there was math. I loved the first half. But then about half way through it just became a drag to keep reading. I'm glad it was a short book. ...more
