I very much enjoyed this book. The fictionalized version of what happened to this family was heartbreaking. I found the protagonist to be such a relatable character. I've always been a fan of historical fiction. This story did not disappoint. The characters were easily identifiable although I never grew up in Mississippi on a river or was adopted The love of sisters and family tugged at my heartstrings throughout.
