This one is actually a re-read for me. I originally read it back in the late 1960s, while in elementary school. I remember not really understanding it then; fortunately, I kept on at reading (just look at me now :0)) This time around, I understood the story better. Events happen randomly, characters are unbelievable (except for Meg’s mom), there was a slam at big families (Calvin’s), and it just wasn’t that good a story.

An old childhood favorite. I don't think I noticed the religious themes when I read this the first time around.
