What Members Thought
The best books are the hardest to review. You stumble and fumble over your words, because you want to get it just right, to capture the essence of the book you have just read, the book that just changed your perception in just such a way, but you can't seem to find the words that can capture the author's vision and ideas and thoughts that the author has already done, so perfectly.
This was excellently done. And highly recommended. It's most certainly not another zombie book. Much, much more than ...more

Expectations
I had only read the blurb on goodreads, I don't remember who, but someone told me I should read this without knowing anything about it, so I only scanned the ratings, without reading the reviews (just to be sure it wasn't a complete waste of time)
From the blurb I expected it to be:
* About zombies
* Thought provoking
* Heartbreaking

Dear Melanie,
I kind of miss you!
Melanie is the light of this story, she is smart, she is animalistic and she is going to figure everything ...more

I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did. I went into it not knowing anything about it and I just saw that friends were reading it. I didn’t even look at their comments in reviews but just decided to put it on the library queue and read it it when it can up.
Makes you live teachers even more after this read.
And shows that hope can be found as well as trust even when not expected.
So not my usual genre and yet I liked it very much and wanted to listen to it every chance I got. That’s a ...more

An interesting take on the post-apocalyptic zombie theme. I came into it knowing absolutely nothing except that there were zombies because I needed a book with that tag, so I was completely surprised by the whole scenario. It can't say that I really enjoyed it because it's really not my thing at all, but it's quite an intriguing idea.

Just when I thought I didn't need another zombie book . . .
This was fantastic. Never quite went where I thought it would. Ending, supreme!
So satisfying, and gripping from the first page. Now I have to go hide it from my 9-year old, who thinks she can read it. Not so much. ...more
