Okay, so I'm very sad to not rate this book higher, especially because I really enjoyed Night Circus. I did round up to 3 stars because there were passages where I found it very interesting and honestly, the writing is very good. However, that said, I could not figure out what was going on. The book kept switching POV as well as timelines and I couldn't figure out how the scenes fit within the larger story. This is one of those books that I wish would never end. I want to go and live in an underground harbour by the starless sea, surrounded by books, magic and mystery. I want to be friends with the characters and listen to all of their stories. I loved the way that all the stories intertwined beautifully and came together towards the end, with characters turning out to be not quite who they had seemed.
