Quick read- my first of Doyle’s works.
Quite fun to see the beginnings of Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes after seeing so many films and tv shows.
Having the mystery cut into with a flashback to America was weird and I nearly rushed through it to get to the “good part”- the end. I ended up really enjoying it. The backstory helped create another layer to the crime that pulled it out of a purely good vs. evil situation which I love.

I've been watching the show Elementary, a modern take on Sherlock Holmes so have been wanting to read some of the backstory. I like that this was written from Watson's point of view. An entertaining short read.
