Wow.. I would've given this 5 stars if not because of the ending.. XD
The topic itself is very interesting, because I didn't know much about Conclave or the process of electing a new Pope, and about the inside stories and politics among the Vatican high ranks. Robert Harris, as usual, successfully captivated me with his detailed description, engaging plot (especially all the politics!!) and page turner pace.

I haven't read any books by Robert Harris until today. This is a very interesting book about the Conclave and it's process, certainly different from my usual read, that I did find interesting, but the book is lacking in thrills or excitement, yes, I though this would have something sinister within it's pages. But no, apart from that I did love the ending which caught me out.

You will not be getting any spoilers from me!
Highly readable, hard-to-put downable, suspenseful, downright enjoyable fiction. The premise is interesting, giving a realistic look into the process of selecting a new pope. Just not sure I liked the ending. I will say the ending will probably surprise you - it certainly did me.
Read again after seeing the movie. Still found it completely entertaining.

Really good storytelling which roped me in. Although choosing the pope doesn't seem at first glance to be a compelling story, Harris writes it like a mystery story.
