Richelle Mead has created a world of vampires that is uniquely her own. Her take on vampire mythology is fresh and thought provoking. The three branches of the vampire race, Dhampir, Moroi, and Strogoi are at war with the Dhampir acting as guardians to the Moroi in the fight against the Strogoi. After having been recommended to me so many times, I finally got a copy from the library.
From the first page, I was enraptured as I follow the adventure of two girls, so different from each other but bound by friendship and something much more.
Rose is the smart-mouthed body guard-in-training for the beautiful, princess Lissa. The story opened with them on the run, only to be captured and brought back into the academy.

Another one of my favorite supe series! I would definitely reccommend these to anyone into this type of genre and looking for another series to dive into. Since its teen its simple reading, but highly enjoyable and NOT filled with annoying jibberish talk. Perfect mix of action, love, humor, and suspense. Plus...Dimitri is delish!
I absolutely loved this book. Rose is a kick butt heroine and Dimitri is a hot hunk of vampire. I think this has the potential to be one of my all time favourite series. This book certainly sets up for some very interesting things to happen in upcoming books. My first 5 star book of 2010!!!
This book started really slow. It took awhile for me to get into it. The ending was the only exciting part. I will have to see how the TV series work out before I read the next one.
This is hands down the best teen vampire series. The character's are bad ass, the story is wonderful and keeps getting better with each book.
