I had mixed feelings as I was thinking about this review. Had it not been a book club selection I might not have finished it. There are two main reasons why I read a book: one is to learn something and the other is for enjoyment. For most of the book I was not entertained and it was only on reflection that I learned a few things. This is an adorable book, it was a delight for me to read every single page. The story takes place in Wales, UK, where Eleanor Oliphant lives. She has been working at the same company for almost ten years. She does not need anything in life, she already has a pleasant routine, every weekend she goes to Tesco to buy her dinner to enjoy it in her apartment. She doesn't any friends but she is happy with her books and activities at home. However, she meets Raymond, a friendly IT guy from her office.

Eleanor Oliphant is a diverse character as she is insightful yet impassive. She lives a heartbreaking story, yet we see her try to push through. Eleonor's insights are straight to the bone and makes readers realize that we take the greatest things for granted; ie. having a family that loves and supports us, having friends, having a home, and basically the security that we have amongst ourselves and our families.
