This book is my second attempt at Forster. Last year, I read A Passage to India, which was very dull and obscure in its meaning. I enjoyed ARWAV better, but I still found the story to move slowly. This book took me a bit of time to read and it's only 200 pages. I'm reading the Introduction to the book now, so I'm starting to gain a better appreciation of what Forster was trying to do here, but overall, I don't think that I really liked any of the characters, except for Old Man Emerson and at tim

This is my first venture into EM Forster. It was somewhat slow at first but became enjoyable as I adapted and accepted the style.
The sentences move you forward and the dialogue sends you back in time. Often I get a sense i wasn't catching it all and I think a second read would be enjoyable. That being said I felt transported to a different time and a different culture.

One of those rare occasions when the (Masterpiece Classic) movie is better than the book. I had a hard time with this book's anti-intellectualness, its 1910s standard gender dynamic, the flighty-silliness of it. [Note: I read the free Kindle edition. I am not sure if it was fully representative of the original.]
