This story begins with Eva D'Orsey in Paris 1955 then flips to Grace Munroe in London about a year later. Grace is the socialite wife of an up and coming politician/attorney in London mid 1950's, and is left a surprising inheritance from an unknown woman. The author tends to flip years and scenes pretty quickly and that was disarming, but she has such a beautiful way with words. I did love this book, it was a great and quick read ...more

Eine wirklich schöne Geschichte, die aber wirklich einige Seiten Anlauf braucht, bis sie in die Gänge kommt. Sobald dies geschehen, entpuppt sich der Roman als kleines Schmuckstück.
Es werden zwei Geschichten parallel erzählt, die von Eva und von Grace. Eine spielt Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts, die zweite in der Mitte. Erst zum Schluss beginnen sich die Geschichten zu verweben, und birgt die eine oder andere Überraschung.

Perfect summer read! Not too demanding - takes maybe 3 days but a very interesting story. Kind of predictable but loved it anyways. Plus the subject is perfume - so made me remember all the perfumes that used to be my favorites and that i still love today. (Shalimar, L'air Du Temps, Obsession, White Linen) ...more
