This novel is best read slowly because there is so much to learn from it. The characters are unique and yet have traits that are universal. The sense of place is important even as it is molded by its characters. Don't judge this book by its cover.

A very moving story set in Botswana (and partly in South Africa) in the 70's, when apartheid is still very much in force. Thoughtful insights into what life can throw at you and how little in control you really are.
