I've seen the movie and thought now would be a good time to read the book. A fascinating story--I loved reading about all the footwork, phone calls, persistence, and editorial strategy it took to report on Watergate as it unfolded. The narrative itself was kind of dry, since it's a factual telling without much flair. Also, the President had so many men that I had trouble keeping track of who's who and how they fit into the bigger picture, even with the cast of characters listed in the front matt ...more

The spectre of Bernstein and Woodward was palpable, and the determined journalists holding government accountable for the truth has been my standard my entire adult life. Me? This book really had me riveted the whole time. While it gets confusing, especially if you aren't a Nixon-era historian, with all the different people involved, it doesn't take away from the excitement. Written by the journalists who broke Watergate it's the story of how they were able to bring down Nixon. It's a pretty amazing story and definitely an important one to American history. ...more
