This book was wonderful. The writing is beautiful. The story was so compelling and heart-breaking. I loved Marina as a character, and the Professor was such an interesting character. The aspect of mystery is also great! I would highly recommend this book.

One of the best books I've read so far this year. The issue is intriguing - developing a fertility drugs based on a rituals of a tribe in Amazon. The setting is perfect: deep jungle, native people, strange rituals. The heroine is likable enough, the twisted ending is decent. In short, this is one complete, fit, sufficient, nice package of story. I definitely will read more of Ann Patchetts! ...more

Good book. The story kept me reading and I liked the writing. There was something about the writing style that made me suspend disbelief about some of the odd plot twists.
