It's a joy to read a romance which takes marriage seriously and not just as a taken-as-given conventional happy-ever-after ending. This story looks at arranged marriages that worked, arranged marriages that didn't, love matches of all stripes, how marriage can be negotiated in a secular Western couple, how the institution of the Indian marriage broker / matchmaking go-between works. An interesting Muslim Canadian Pride and Prejudice adaptation—many characters are swapped / conflated, but no big complaints. I liked Khalid and Ayesha, but.. sometimes the P&P elements make things too predictable to me... I dunno. Loved Shakespeare-loving Nana, too. It was enjoyable but I don't think I'll reread it.
