This graphic memoir gives a fairly accurate description of life under Middle Eastern dictatorship.
The author describes his childhood in Libya and then Syria pointing out the many defects in society and trying to come to term with the weirdness of his Syrian father.
I chuckled out loud at some societal anecdotes, superstitions, gender roles, and familial relations. There are places where I also cringed at the violence, and I think its horrific level is not imagined. Near the end of this volume, t
