What Members Thought
The author of this book is acclaimed, was on the short list for the Booker Prize. I read it as the book on Angola for reading around the world with my sister. Neither of us cared for this book. I am not a big fan of whimsy or magical realism. It lost me when the fisher was describing how he caught large fish, cut off their human torsos, and sold the mermaid tails.
