It’s probably been 15 years since I read—and really, really liked—Kushiel’s Dart and the rest of that trilogy. I can’t recall now if I read the second Kushiel trilogy or not, but I know I started Banewreaker once and really couldn’t get into it.

Naamah's Kiss is set some 150 years after Carey's remarkable Kushiel trilogies, but the reader who has not read the earlier books can still enjoy this one, I think. In fact, if you attempted to read the Kushiel books and were ill at ease (as I was, initially) with the BDSM content, Moirin's adventures may be more your speed. Don't get me wrong, there's still plenty of sex here---Moirin is half D'Angeline and her father is a priest of Naamah, goddess of desire---and it's hot sex, with multiple pa

I really enjoyed the first trilogy of Carey's, starting with Kushiel's Dart. One thing I liked about this book, compared to that trilogy, was that there wasn't so much background. It was fitted into the story instead. So this book was a breeze to read and didn't get bogged down anywhere. I think Carey is growing as a writer. So even though I thought the... um, subject matter of the first three books was more fun, this is one of her better books (that I've read so far.)

I read this book while staying in a hotel in Dhaka. It kept me company very well.
I'm a big fan of Jacqueline Carey. She's very good at adding erotic scenes to her story without making it seem out of place. I find Moirin an interesting character. Viewing Terre d'Ange from an foreigner's eyes was a very pleasant change. I don't know if the country is in "decline" from the earlier times of Phedre and Imriel, but I find it gratifying that other continents are being explored.

It took me a while to really get into this book. For the first two-thirds of it, I just wasn't that interested in the main character, Moirin. After the intensity of the characters that came before (Phedre, Joscelin, Imri...) I thought, in comparison, Moirin was a bit flat. But... being a loyal fan of Jacqueline Carey, I kept on plugging. I'm glad I did.

I enjoyed this book, but didn't find the characters at engaging as her Phedre or Imriel trilogies. Still, a bisexual druid is an interesting choice for a lead character...

Still silly. Still fun. This was the first one I had the audiobook experience with. The accent was a little silly and the dragon voice was not great, but I was still giddily absorbed.
