The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, #2) in Building a SciFi/Fantasy Library

Tough, very tough for me to read.

The book is getting better. At least there is somewhat of a Plot.
The Dragon Reborn lingers in search of the Horn. A horn the reader does not find out the purpose for until the last 100 pages. Slightly better than the first book, which is not saying much considering the first book (for being the FIRST in the series!) was not that good. The storyline is great, however, the plot appears to go backwards all the time.

We have Rand, Mat, Perrin as the boys who are a p Tough, very tough for me to read.

We have Rand, Mat, Perrin as the boys who are a part of the pattern the Wheel of Time weaves. Then there is Lan, Moraine, the Gleeman, Egwene and Nynaeve. Great characters, great development on Lan, Moraine and the Gleeman and some good potential for the other five. I didnt really learn anything major about these characters in the entire 700+ pages. Seriously. Padan Fain, ok all they are doing is looking for him, the horn and a dagger.Really Robert Jordan? Can you please move these people faster along, my eyes are been sewn shut with boredom. A character becomes sick throughout the book because of a weapon he stole which was a part of him, is now taken from him. So YES, a character could go down. There is so much here Jordan has to work with. However, I'd rather have him destroy all the characters, they are doing nothing productive! I guess traveling leagues and leagues counts for something, but how do you develop a character who rides a horse for 300 pages. Ah yes, we are at the next village, lets stay at this hotel and entertain until we are discovered, then make a rash escape and off we trot on our horses. -Entire Book. I'm not exaggerating.
Some random stuff occurs. Nevertheless, too random to even make sense. Read the first 100 pages and the last 100 pages. End of story. .....

On a happier note:

I would personally like to kill Moraine, I dont know whether to trust her, like her, or hate her. So I'm going to kill her.

Jordan seems to be slowly moving the plot and by slowly I mean every 100 pages the main characters are in a different town. That about sums it up. They havent accomplished anything, or died...unfortunately.

I can't explain why I'm still reading the series, There is no way the next books can be worse than the first two.

It had been a while since I read this one from cover to cover, and in my memory, it was never one of the Wheel of Time books to stand out in my mind, so I'd given it three stars. After reading it, I was surprised at how many of my favorite parts of the series it contained. I love the Lanfear pieces introduced here, and the climax is one I've always enjoyed. Better yet, there are so many pieces of the puzzle only hinted at here which become of great significance much later on in the series--Jorda ...more
