So, I really enjoyed this, even though there was insta-love. At first I was a little confused. I think they had met 3 times, and only spoken a few lines to each other, and Adira was acting like she owned him. But Isaac certainly didnt object. This might not be for you if you are strongly against insta-love. Its not my favourite thing either, but if the book is still good I can look past it. And I gotta admit, this book is good.

I really loved the eerie feel it had, like old classic horror movies So, I really enjoyed this, even though there was insta-love. At first I was a little confused. I really loved the eerie feel it had, like old classic horror movies, with lots of slashing claws and blood. And the fact that these werewolves are real Wolfman-style werewolves, not sissy wolves. :P And I loved J.A. Redmerski descriptive writing. Three times she described a wolf turning and it was unbelievably vivid, like I could hear their bones snapping and everything. These werewolves have a lot of history that goes back to centuries old Bulgaria and ancient feuds. It reminds me of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (love that movie). I cant wait to learn more about it in Kindred. As well as more about these Praverian mentioned in the blurb, and about Trajan, Viktor, and Arabei's history and secrets.

Surprisingly enough, my favourite thing about this book is probably Adria and Isaac. Besides the insta-love, I loved their relationship. It was so intense. I have absolutely no doubt about how much Isaac loves Adria and it is absolutely beautiful. And Adria already trusts him with her life, even if she shouldnt. Even when he is in wolf form. Love makes you foolish. Their's was an all consuming, Romeo and Juliet-style love. Neither were put in the position to have to decide between each other in this book, but I am sure if they were, they would die for each other. I love that kind of love. :P

There were also a lot of great supporting characters, especially Harry and Zia. They were great friends. But I would have liked to get to know them better with more dialogue. There were a lot of scenes that were mentioned, or described, with no dialogue at all and I think everyone would have come to life better with more dialogue. This is losing one star for the insta-love and the lack of dialogue. Also, I was a little annoyed that Isaac kept forcing Adria to have awkward conversations in front of his huge family. Things that could have been discussed in private.

But besides that, this book was beautiful, action-packed, dark, and intense. I loved every other aspect of it and I cannot wait for everything and anything that happens in Kindred. ...more

So I literally just finished The Mayfair Moon and to be honest it wasn't what I was expecting at all.

After Adria and her older sister are traumatized and seriously injured during a run-in with some werewolves and the blame falls on their stepfather, they are sent to live with their Aunt and Uncle in Maine. This book has so many 4-5 star reviews. I had purchased it before it had gotten many, it sounded like a great story, but I couldn't read it at the time I purchased.

Finally able to read it this week and expecting to be blown away by an indie author... I was let down.

The book wasn't terrible, and I was even entertained, mostly. But the editing left much to be desired, not sure if it is just because I got an early copy and maybe this has been taken care of since my purchase? But it pulled me out of ...more

After a horrifying experience, Adria and her sister Alex go to live with their aunt and uncle in Maine. But the horror is not over - in fact, they are drawn deeper into a war with werewolves. The charcters are interesting and the werewolves frightening. And some new elements are added to the mythos. A very enjoyable read.
