16-year-old Anna can see emotions. Each emotion that she can feel and see has a distinct color. Anna goes with a friend to a concert and first sees Kaidan Rowe, who is the drummer in the band. Kaidan doesn't have an aura, he only has a “concentrated starburst of bright red at his sternum.” What I found refreshing about Anna is that she is poor but she isn't snotty about it. I hate reading about rich, pampered girls with their Prada and Gucci. Things I don't have now and definitely never had grow

I think I would have liked this book better if I hadn't read so many books with a similar story line - angels and demons and their offspring, the Nephalim. Too much of the same thing. Even though the writing was good and the characters were fun to read about, it was not original in the least bit. It's like reading about a human meeting a vampire and them falling in love. Poor, poor Kaiden!

Ahhhh. I love Kaiden!

I only bought this book because the publisher had the ebook version of it on sale in anticipation of the release of the second one. The cover is pretty, but it doesn't really capture the feeling of the book to me. Neither was the back jacket quite as convincing. I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would & was pleasantly surprised. Okay, I did have the odd moment when I wanted to give our poor main female character, Anna a slap up the side of the head & wake her up a bit but the other characters were strong enough that in the end I wasn't even quite so fussed with that (that was the one thing I HATED about Twilight saga, the fact that Bella seemed to be whinging all the time). Or maybe it was the fact that even though some of the demons didn't ...more

I'm pretty sure I was on the verge of getting into a reading slump before I read this. I LOOOVED this book. Loved the hero (not so much his name, though) and heroine and all of the supporting characters. Can't wait for book 2. I'm kind of glad I waited so long to read it, because now I only have a couple of months to wait for the sequel. There better be a lot of Kaidan in book 2. And I really hope there's no love triangle between him and Anna and Kopano. ...more
