I really felt like I read two different books in this one, one part 2 star, one part 4 star. The first half of the book was so hard for me to get into. I think part of that was all the hype, I was expecting to fall in love immediately and was really disappointed when I didn't. But I also felt like I was dumped right into the middle of the book and was having a lot of trouble really grasping the world that I was in and the characters and their witcheries and relationships and the different lands

Truthwitch was a highly hyped, almost to the point of being classified as overhyped, YA fantasy novel that was to be released right as the new year rolled in. It was being compared by promoters and individuals to the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas – who just so happens to be a good friend of the author of Truthwitch.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard was one of the most hyped books of 2016. To be very honest with you, that hype went completely over my head and I didn't even realise it was being published by Pan Mac in Australia. Also, that cover — it's hideous. I still don't understand why publishers in the UK/Australia find the need to change the covers of US books, when the original was perfectly fine. Why downgrade something that was already beautiful, into something that looks like this...? Nevermind,

The world building in this was not great. A lot of things were not explained. And I didn’t care about any of the characters. They were all really annoying. Except maybe Aeduan. He seemed interesting. But still DNFing this at 37%.
