This book is exactly how historical adventures ought to be written! It’s a tale of high seas, pirates and far-away Islands, and as I read it while away on holiday, it very much reminded me of a happy childhood spent reading things like Treasure Island and Jules Verne. If you liked those, you’ll love this book. The prose flows really well, and the characterisation is perfectly done.
