[close] I absolutly loved this book I'm on Catching Fire right now and it is amazing. I'm also excited for the movies, which I heard there were going to be 4 movies so I guess their going to do 2 parts in Mockingjay. Also I think the actors that they chose were perfect, at first I was like eh then after I saw what they were going to look like in the movie i wass like. THEY ARE PERFECT! Also I'm a defanite Team Peeta.

I purchased this book long before I started reading it. I heard about how good it was but I saw the cover and the first few pages and gave up on it for a few months. I took it out again few days ago and told myself to give it another try. My friend Katherine read it last May and loved it. So I tried it again.

I was suprised by how good it was. Within 15 pages it drew me in, making me sure I wasn't going to stop reading it again this time. The detials and writing structure both caught my eye. I l I purchased this book long before I started reading it. I heard about how good it was but I saw the cover and the first few pages and gave up on it for a few months. I took it out again few days ago and told myself to give it another try. My friend Katherine read it last May and loved it. So I tried it again.

I was suprised by how good it was. Within 15 pages it drew me in, making me sure I wasn't going to stop reading it again this time. The detials and writing structure both caught my eye. I loved the main character, Katniss. She showed power and a tomboy-like style that interested me. She knew how to hunt, to fight, and to run a whole family by herself. Her personality made me feel for her. The story kept going on and we meet Gale. I personally like the kid. He's eighteen and a hunter. He's handsome and loved but he and Katniss are best friends. His attitude is also interesting. The Reaping day continues on and then Prim's name gets pulled from the ball of names. I knew what was going to happen before it did. Katniss, seeing her sister up there with a look of determination on her face, rushes to volunteer to be a Tribute. She saves her little sister and becomes a Tribute for The Hunger Games. And we soon discover Peeta Mellark is chosen to be the other Tribute for the boys side. He's sixteen, with ash blond hair and blue eyes. Now they must fight againist each other because they have both been selected for The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games is where the government, The Capitol, takes two kids from each District. A boy and a girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen are brought to an unkown place called The Arena where they fight to the death. The last one standing wins. But the Capitol doesn't just want people to die because they add special affects and add problems for the Tributes to face. Like a forest fire, shortage of water, sudden weather changes. Alliances can be only temporaily made, knowing that eventually one of them will have to kill the other for the game to end.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a suprisingly amazing book. It's filled with action, suspense, romance, trust--all woven greatly into a storyline that caught my eye quickly. There's fighting and gore so I'd give this book a 13+ age line. There's injuries and killing that isn't very fun to read about but is still good. There's a romance that goes throughout the story that is very cute and confusing at the same time. I'd say that if you like action, adventure, mystery, suspense, thrills, or romance--to read this book. You won't regret it, I can tell you that. ...more

Oh..... scary..... it sound's like The Lottery . Well, kind of, anyways. YES! MY MOMMY BOUGHT IT AT DA BOOK FAIR. She almost didn't buy it because it sounded too scary. Unlike your parents, Jennifer, my parents actually look at the back and care.... SOOOOO GOOD! I'm on the very beginning of part three. It really isn't THAT violent.

W....T....F! IT CHANGED IT TO "READ" Too bad. Now it's read. O...M....G! So awesome! Now I get why Jenn's so obsessed with Catching Fire because it must be better! PEETA CHIP!!!!!!! Why is Gale so normal??? What is the baker's name??? What is it with berries???? I LOVE KRONOS!

I love you, THE HUNGER GAMES! YAY! Whoo. I just noticed, I read it on Jenn's birthday... What else is there to say??? Why is this supposed to make me dislike snuggies???

Okay, now I'm gonna read this for the 3rd time. It's gonna be really good, just so you know. Wow. I just noticed. I haven't said anything useful. Other than this book is really really really really really really really good! Katniss sometimes has some anger management problems, but she's waaaayyyyyy better than Harry Potter.

It's really weird because this book has a weird effect on me that I have to cover the page so I don't know what happens even though I know. For example, when they announce the name of the girl tribute, I still cover the page even though I know who it is.

PS. This next part is spoiler-ish. But I'm not going to do the weird ALERT! ALERT! Thing... Oh. It's about a dream I had. Ha! I sound really weird... And it has one little charrie announcement from Catching Fire.

So I had this really bad dream last night. At first, I thought I was playing Katniss, but the events in my Hunger Games story doesn't go with hers. I was part of the Hunger Games, I suppose, but Cato finds me. For some reason, he has this weird ally guy... but anyways, he ask me to join him. But he doesn't know I'm Tiffany or something. But this other girl who is like Johanna from Catching Fire who tries to kill me with MY chainsaw or something. Cato gets all mad at me for leaving things out. Then he says to make it look like we planned that or something again. We run into my dining room (!!!!???) and we hide. Johanna finds me and I try to cut the saw with my knife but she gets me.. I run upstairs without her seeing cause she's talking to Cato. She's like, "If she want's it that way, I'll get her myself!" So I hide in my brother's closet (we're in my house-weird... O.o) and I wake up.
So that got me all freaked out that Johanna was going to appear any second, but now I'm okay... I think. Actually, I'm never okay... Just like that story... if you haven't noticed.... I'm really weird.

I just noticed. How did the wolf-mutts get Cato. Like, he had the armor, right?

Okay. I just read this for the 4th time... I had a question, but I don't remember it. Oh well, if I remember then I'll post... ...more

OMG the ending was so good but sad! I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'm honestly torn between the protective and shy Peeta and the strong and reliable Gale. They both seem good for Katniss. I wonder who she'll pick? But I hope Suzanne Collins doesn't end with a "the three of them become best friends forever" kind of thing. That would be very unnerving. THIS BOOK IS BOMB!!!! I can't wait to read the second but I have to wait a whole week to get it! I need to find out what happens. If you didn't like the Underland Chronicles (I didn't like them), then you will love this book. (Even if you do like the Chronicles you'll still like it. :)) I don't know why Suzanne Collins took so much time to get this book out, but it was worth the wait! ...more

So far, this is one of the more original teen books that I've read lately. I read it a few weeks ago, and the characters have really stuck in my mind. Even though the plot is fairly boring and standard, the villains are better developed and more interesting than most others in other books that I've read. ...more
