A welcome return to form after her last novel (which I still can't believe how little I enjoyed it), but not quite back up to her best. A middle ground novel which isn't great but still a fun read. I have... really big issues with how it ended. Like "drop a star" level issues. And I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had just been a straightforward story instead of JUMPING TO THE FUTURE EVERY FEW CHAPTERS. Not everything needs dual timelines, my god. Let that trend die already.

This hits all the emotions and is also intelligent and reflective and insightful and so many other things. Amazing story. And truly amazing narration. I have been listening to audiobooks since the mid 90s, and I can't think of any that were narrated better than this. I'm stunned by the book and the narration.
