I read this book when I was reading Persepolis and felt both the books were talking about the same thing, just that this book took it to extremes. The writing was great, so descriptive that I could imagine everything about that dystopian society clearly in my mind. But one of the major issues I had was missing quotation marks and the fact that it is in first person narration. Why wouldn't a person use quotation marks for conversations?! At least a year after I read this, I still remember it being very, very good. I didn't like Atwood when I first tried her work as a teenager. Now I think I just couldn't appreciate it yet, because this is brilliant. Probably 4.5 stars

This was amazing. It was delightful and terrifying at the same time. The prose and wonderful descriptions were like finely spun silk. It was such a fairy tale horror story told in gentle snippets. I would recommended this as a must read for everyone.
