This novel does still feel like an Earthsea story, and it isn't so bad as many reviewers have made it out to be, but it does suffer from being a little too slow and simple in comparison to the previous books in the series. It touches on some issues--the loss of power and what that means to a person, and the differences between men and women--but doesn't delve too deeply into either. This book is amazing. It’s so thought provoking that I couldn’t put it down or stop thinking about it.

This is a more philosophical and morality based book than the others. I found it less entertaining because of that, but it was very powerful.
