Finally, I have vanquished the Mars trilogy! It was a long and rough ride, to be honest. I probably should have given up on the first book. They'll never be favorites. I had a terrible time liking or caring for any of the characters. In fact, it took me until this very book to do that. I certainly admire Robinson's attention to detail, his extensive research, and the scope of his imagination, but I would venture that his writing, for the most part, just isn't for me.
