Found this a little hard to get into the flow of as initially I felt I was thrown into the action with characters I hadn't been properly introduced to and then suddenly the whole situation changes and they are recruited by a mysterious patron and the action moves to a new continent. It is at this point that the story and the characters started to click for me and I was getting to know the characters and the main storyline seemed to start in earnest.

What is great about this is that it felt differ

I was debating whether to give this book less till I reached the end. I get it, its during a war and can be a bit much for some readers. I didn't feel like it was that dark of a book, nor it did it feel like it was going anywhere for most of it. I started to understand the war fought between the Lady and the Dominator but battle after battle gets boring. There is no discernible plot where I thought the book was headed, and even when I got a glimpse of hope at the end hoping that a plot would eme ...more

A military fantasy about a long war w/ desperation & depravity on both sides (w/ some modern-ish weapons & narrative), & a group of mercenaries trying to survive & do as much good as possible. Reasonably well-written, but IMHO not really amazing.
