A little didactic, this book was still pretty amazing. The main character Marcus seemed so realistic, just like a 17-year old. His thoughts, actions, and reactions seemed a lot like how I remember those years. I'm also glad that for a YA this was less a coming of age / first romance story. There was some of that, but it never got in the way of the main throughline of the tale. Well paced, too: fast like YA books tend to be, but not so fast I couldn't put it down to take a break. A nice YA cyberpunk about cryptography, American history and civil disobedience. I don't know whether or not the politics in it is plausible or whether or not its criticism on Homeland Security is justifiable - after all, it only tells one side of a story, but it's definitely a fast and fun read. ...more
