When I picked this book up from the library I didn't read the blurb so I had no idea what it was about. This is the second time i've done that and the second time i've been impressed with my choice! Basically this story is about a guy called Jackson & his girlfriend Holly gets shot in circumstances he doesn't understand, then he finds himself back a few years previous & realises he can time travel. All sorts of secrets in his family come to the surface & i'm sure there will be more i ...more

I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the first two thirds are OUTSTANDING. I think the writing is amazing. And the characters are fantastic. I think the author does a pretty great job of leaping around and still keeping everything cohesive. Buy the last third gets repetitive and the fight scenes are sometimes hard to visualize.

There are also some pretty unlikely information dumps, one in particular. And at least once, the author asks for a suspension of disbelief I wasn't willing to gi

I really love this book!! It had action, romance, time traveling and mystery!!! It was one of those books that you can't put down. Each of Julie Cross' character was brilliantly written. This is Julie Cross first debut and I think she did an amazing job with this novel. From the first page you know it will be a good read. I actually enjoyed the romance of going back in time to figure out why he is able to time travel. Jackson and his relationship with Holly is sooo cute, I was rooting with them ...more

This novel has a very cool plot. I’ve heard about time travelers but I’ve never read books about them. For my first time traveler’s book, I’d say this one was a great pick. I knew—even before reading the first page--that I was going to like this book, and I liked it. Very much.

Jackson is a time traveler, and at first, he didn’t take it seriously. It was because he only can time travel for hours or two days … and only for fun. That’s until Jackson and Holly were attacked by two guys, and when Ho
I thought this was a pretty good book as far as YA books go, especially since I'm such a sucker for time travel. I like how they took a new twist on the age-old rules. For instance, if Jackson goes back into the past, he doesn't change anything in the future. The book does get a little complicated a bit later and has a bit more complexity than just time-travel, but I think it introduces it well. I was definitely captivated and easily finished this book, unlike other YA books *cough* City of Bone ...more

Overall, Tempest is a fitting read for young adults (around 15 years old) who enjoy love stories and the idea of time travel. This was a very quick read for me and while I enjoyed many parts, I found it difficult to grasp around the main character, Jackson's, time traveling because he traveled to many dates so frequently. The love aspect of this teen novel was easily apparent but I felt like reading Tempest didn't give me enough detail on Jackson and Holly's relationship. Cross created an intere ...more
