What Members Thought
Finally! This book was such a drag at the Merchant Prince chapters but it did intrigue me. One thing that prevented me from awarding only two stars was that I become convinced that there were lots of references on the rise and fall of real civilization (yeah the Roman is one) but I will have to dig out my long buried history knowledge first to draw parallels. It's there, alright. Just too lazy to think about it thoroughly while writing this review hahaha

Wow.... I looove this book. Totally not expecting to like it, initially. I mean, the first and the second chapters, The Psychohistorians, and the Encyclopedists, they started in a veeery sloooow motion way, and I didn't understand a word! I found myself kept re-reading the paragraphs, and decided that probably this popular series is not for me. If it's not a book to be discussed in a sci-fi group here in Goodreads, I might have put this book back to the dusty shelves.

The two star rating just reflects what I think of the writing. I can't get over it, by space! And I can't bring myself to give it any more than that. I can get into the ideas, but not much more than if I had read about them in a political science textbook. Besides, it's got plenty of great ratings and near unanimous praise elsewhere.
