“Decades ago, our ancestors realized that it is not political ideology, religious belief, race or nationalism that is to blame the warring world. Rather they determined that it was the fault of human personality- of humankind’s inclination towards evil, in

This book was an awesome beginning to an awesome series. Admittedly I saw the movie before I considered picking up this trilogy, but I don't regret the order in which I did so. I know many people who read the book then saw the movie, and not many of those people enjoyed the movie. This wasn't something I would have chosen to read - dystopian is not my thing - but someone gave me the audiobook so I went ahead and listened to it. Honestly except for the whole begging thing, I would rather be factionless. I don't like being put int ...more

I will admit I watched the movie first and that was my introduction to this trilogy. The movie intrigued me so I felt compelled to read the book. With a few deviations, I felt I was just reading the screenplay as the movie followed the book so closely- that's why it didn't engage me as well as it could have. I did learn more about what each faction stood for and valued and why they were created to begin with. I will be looking to read the other two books in the series. ...more
